We Made it Happen again!

We had yet another great event this past Saturday, with over 80 people joining us in Penicuik.

We are very grateful to Ladywood Leisure Centre and their amazing team of volunteers for letting us use their huge hall to host the third of our four outreach events happening across Midlothian. LLC is a pillar of their community, hosting many types of activities throughout the year and providing many crucial services.

The afternoon started with an introduction to the work of LLC, followed by a short introduction to MCAN. But, just like our past events, the real stars of the day were the amazing groups coming together to share their work and inspire the community. And what better way to get it started than with a showcase by Penicuik Storehouse to a very attentive audience.

Midlothian Wildflowers once again got us learning about the roles of our wildflowers in keeping local pollinator populations healthy.

Penicuik Community Gardeners brought some of their locally grown, delicious produce.

1st Rosewell Brownies showed us how to make Seed Bombs to help rewild the world!

Home Energy Scotland brought much needed advice on funding for renewables and energy efficient home improvements

Buglife and Riverfly on the Esk sparked our curiosity about life in our rivers and their importance in a healthy ecosystem.

Midlothian Council’s Communities and Lifelong Learning helped us improve our numeracy skills with their Counting Carbon game

Ladywood Baby and Toddler Group got our young one’s creativity flowing

Elaine, the Storyteller, brought us even more fantastical stories.

Last, but not least, we had Alec’s Mobile Cycle Clinic and Penicuik Recycles help people repair their bikes throughout the day.

Once again, we left feeling energised and empowered by the amazing work communities are already doing across Midlothian!

Our last outreach event will be taking place this Saturday, 23rd March between 1.30-4pm at One Dalkeith

We hope to see you there! Keep an eye on our social media channels for more information.
